Bride's Anxiety. "I hope it doesn't rain ..."

One common anxiety that all pre-brides face during wedding preparations is, "I hope it doesn't rain on the day..." No matter how much you try to choose a period with low rainfall, it's not an exaggeration to say that the weather on that day is largely a matter of luck, especially since the wedding date is set a year in advance.

But wait! We can pray to the gods to ensure that it doesn't rain and that we have beautiful weather. Here’s a wonderfully effective place to go that is even better than making a teru teru bozu to prevent rain!

The Weather God♡ Do you know about the 'Kishou Shrine'?

Have you heard of the 'Kishou Shrine'???

The 'Kishou Shrine' is the only shrine in Japan that enshrines the 'Weather God', located at the Hikawa Shrine in Koenji, Tokyo.*

(This is the mascot character, the shrine maiden along with Teru Teru-kun♡)

When the 'Kishou Shrine' was established in 1944, there was a military meteorology facility at that site. Originally, it was supposed to be removed after the war, but due to an oversight, it remained and was later transferred to the Hikawa Shrine, giving it a fascinating history.*

Although the shrine building is small, its architecture is of the oldest style of shrine construction called "Shinmei-zukuri". How charming!*

Many pre-brides visit the Kishou Shrine daily to pray for clear weather on their wedding day. Here’s some information about the shrine that I would like to visit with my partner before the ceremony!

Let’s write our prayers on the geta-shaped ema♡

Perhaps because people used to predict the next day's weather using the front and back of geta, the ema at Kishou Shrine are in the shape of cute geta.*

There are two types of straps, red and yellow, so I want to choose my favorite!♡

I found ema written by actual pre-brides from the past ♡ I checked the weather for May 7, 2016, and it was indeed sunny! The Weather God lived up to its name! There are many ema expressing gratitude for wishes granted, so it seems to be effective!*

The talisman from Kishou Shrine looks like this♡

Of course, writing an ema is important, but I also recommend buying a souvenir to commemorate your visit to Kishou Shrine. Here’s a talisman that seems to be effective; it would be nice to display it at home during the year you get married!

Let’s visit the Kishou Shrine in Koenji with your partner♡

I introduced the Kishou Shrine, the only shrine in Japan with a Weather God.* Many brides may not even have known about its existence. Let's go visit together with your partner to pray for clear weather on the wedding day, honeymoon, or while traveling! ♡
