"Watercolor Art" is Really Cute♡
The "watercolor" style, characterized by its light and soft colors, is indeed adorable! Watercolor art has long been popular in overseas DIY weddings, and in recent years, watercolor designs in paper items and wedding dresses have gained popularity in Japanese weddings too♡
Let's DIY ♡ Try Painting Watercolor Yourself!
Such watercolor art can be easily DIYed by simply preparing watercolor paints and paper! Plus, since it’s not about drawing a specific picture, it’s perfect for brides who don’t consider themselves artistic or those who are a bit clumsy♡
First, let’s boldly give it a try! As you go along, you should be able to design paper items like invitations, menus, and seating charts♡ Here, I'll introduce two easy-to-follow watercolor DIY methods.
Watercolor DIY Method ♡ Here’s What You’ll Need!
First, here are the five essential items needed for watercolor art (assuming you'll be DIYing paper items like place cards):
① Blank cards or thick paper (this is what you'll be coloring on)
② Watercolor paints
③ Paintbrushes (one thick and one thin)
④ Paper towels
⑤ A pinch of salt
Once you're ready, let’s get started on the coloring! ♡
① First, wet the entire card using the thick brush dipped in water* (If there are parts you don’t want to color, tape them off beforehand.) Then, to prevent the card from warping, gently blot it with a paper towel.
② Next, use the thin brush to apply the paint! It's recommended to make random strokes* If you want to create a nice gradient, gradually add water to the same color to lighten it♡
③ Once you’ve finished coloring, sprinkle a little salt over the wet paint before it dries! The reason for adding salt is that it absorbs moisture and creates interesting patterns* Isn't that a neat tip?♡
④ And finally! Once the paint is fully dried, gently brush off the salt and it's completed! If the paper is warped from the water, simply place it between thick books like a dictionary*
Another Idea! Making Just the Text Watercolor ♡
Unlike the method introduced earlier, this idea focuses on making just the text watercolor! This way of having only the text in watercolor style is adorable too! It’s recommended for the name portion on place cards or menus*
The method involves cutting out letters from unnecessary thick paper* Place this on top of the paper item and randomly apply watercolor paint over it! Follow the same steps as before. Using a hairdryer to speed up the drying process is a smart tip to remember*
