I Want to Know About Wonderful Wedding Productions*
For brides-to-be preparing for their wedding, have you decided on the ceremony and reception performances?*
Classic performances are certainly wonderful, but many brides likely think, "I want to incorporate unique and original performances, not the usual clichéd ones!"
However, many of the performances for weddings in Japan have been done to death, making it quite a challenge to find performances that make you say, "I've never seen anything like this!"
Have you heard of the "Wedding Box"?
Today, we introduce you to the "Wedding Box," a popular performance in overseas weddings. It's a trendsetting wedding performance that hasn't yet been widely adopted in Japan♩
We will explain the meaning, method, and appeal of the Wedding Box performance*
What is the "Wedding Box" performance?*
The Wedding Box is a ceremony where the bride and groom put a wine bottle and letters to each other into a wooden box in front of guests and then nail the lid shut*
The sealed wooden box is kept at home, and the couple opens it together five or ten years later. They take the wine out and read the letters expressing their feelings from that time while enjoying the wine♡ It's like a time capsule and so lovely, isn't it?*
Also known as the "Fight Box," the Wedding Box has the meaning that if a big fight occurs in their future married life, they should open it and reconcile!♡
Next, let’s go over what you need to prepare for the Wedding Box performance*
Items Needed for the "Wedding Box" Performance ① Wine
First, prepare the wine to be sealed in the Wedding Box. It can be a luxurious wine that you wouldn’t normally drink, or perhaps a wine made in the year you or your partner was born, or a wine produced in the year of your wedding♡
Items Needed for the "Wedding Box" Performance ② Letters
Next, prepare a letter addressed to your future self and partner for when you open the Wedding Box three, five, or ten years later*
While imagining how you will be spending your time together in the distant future, write down your current happy feelings honestly♡ It would be nice to write a letter to your future baby that you have yet to meet too*
Items Needed for the "Wedding Box" Performance ③ Wooden Box
Next, you will need a wooden box with a lid to seal the wine and letters inside* If you don't have a lid, you can buy a thin plywood piece of the same size as the wooden box at a craft store♩
Items Needed for the "Wedding Box" Performance ④ Hammer and Nails
Prepare a hammer and nails to secure the lid to the wooden box. It's good to have two hammers, one for yourself and one for your partner♩
If the nails are too long, it will be difficult to hammer in, and if they’re too short, the lid won't be secured properly. Choose nails that are just the right length for your wooden box* It might be best to ask the staff at a craft store for advice♡
These are the basic items you need to prepare♡ Next, we will introduce some items you'd like to include in the Wedding Box aside from the wine and the letters*
Items You’d Like to Include in the "Wedding Box"♡
How about sealing some of your favorite photos in the box together? Pictures from the pre-wedding shoot or casual snapshots that can remind you of how you felt back then are recommended◎
You could also include cards with messages from guests, Jenga pieces, or an album♡ You will be looking forward to opening the Wedding Box even more*
If you ask the guests to "Write a message for you as a couple ten years from now," it will surely surprise and excite them♡
Incorporate the Wedding Box Performance into Your Wedding♩
We have introduced the "Wedding Box," a popular ceremony overseas♡ Since there aren’t many brides in Japan who have incorporated it yet (I couldn’t find a single instance when I searched on Instagram...!), it’s recommended for those brides looking for a fresh performance♡
May the future world when you open the Wedding Box continue to see you and your partner as a loving couple♡
