Even for those who are very satisfied with their photo data, there are likely one or two poses or moments that make them think, “I wish I had asked for that photo...!” Therefore, it's important to avoid missing out on those 'standard shots.'

Photos from the wedding day, surprisingly, are often more useful and easy to show to relatives if they are classic, straightforward "just wedding!" photos rather than trendy, stylish, and original images. They are also recommended as material for New Year’s cards and wedding announcements.

However, in today's trend of capturing many details with props, it's surprisingly easy to forget about the "Just! Simple! Standard!" shots.

In this article, I will introduce the classic shots you should definitely request from your photographer on the wedding day and during your pre-wedding shoot*

On the wedding day・

Surprisingly easy to forget ① Photos taken from directly in front!

When looking back at wedding day photos and pre-wedding photos, many people surprisingly realize, "Huh, that's missing..." This is the 'shot from directly in front.' Especially when you're moving around, it's rare to face the camera straight on. Looking slightly to the side might seem more stylish or show off the dress beautifully, and it can have its benefits.

However, photos from the front are incredibly important!! Relatives and older guests often prefer clear, straightforward photos over stylish ones, and the bride and groom also want a picture of themselves looking straight ahead, right?

During both the pre-wedding shoot and the wedding day, you should definitely ensure that you have photos taken from the front and the back for keepsakes.

Be sure not to forget to do this every time you change outfits! It’s also recommended to capture photos of the couple together as well as individual shots for each pattern.

Surprisingly easy to forget ② Full-body photos

Photos that capture the full body from head to toe, fitting perfectly within the frame, are one of the pictures many reflect upon and realize, "Oh, I surprisingly don't have that..."

Sometimes, the dress's skirt may be hidden at the table, the train might be cut off, or many bust-up shots could be taken while seated.

Since you’ve found your favorite dress, you should definitely preserve memories with pictures capturing your entire body beautifully, enabling you to look back on 100% of your remembrance. This should be done for all outfits, in couple shots and solo shots for all patterns.

Especially, solo shots of the groom are often forgotten. Make sure to capture his splendid look dressed in a tuxedo beautifully*

Surprisingly easy to forget ③ Hair arrangements

Photos that clearly show the hair arrangements are also surprisingly easy to overlook. This is because photographers typically aim to capture the "faces" of the bride and groom.

While it’s the photographer's job to catch wonderful expressions and moments, brides today have slightly altered expectations. They not only want dramatic photos but also seek a beautiful report capturing the "results" and "facts" of the preparations they have painstakingly worked through for the wedding day*

Hair arrangements and hairstyles are a significant decision in the preparation. It’s advisable to get photos of your hairstyle taken from the front, side, and back so that it’s clear how you styled your hair for this magnificent day.♡

Surprisingly easy to forget ④ Accessories

Accessories are also incredibly sentimental items for the bride.

However, for others, they might just seem like "things that the bride is wearing," so it's surprisingly rare for the photographer to focus specifically on these items.

Earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and hair accessories. Ideally, you would have the photographer take pictures of them along with the dress before they are put on, and then capture individual shots of each item being worn...!

Nonetheless, photographers are usually focused on capturing fleeting moments and may miss out on these detail shots, so it may be beneficial to ask close friends or family members, or consider having multiple photographers.

Surprisingly easy to forget ⑤ Photos indicating the location

Furthermore, I recommend having someone beautifully photograph the entire or part of the venue where the wedding will take place.

For instance, when asked, "Where did you have your wedding?" having a photo of the venue would suffice, but if you don’t have it, you must show their website.

Doesn't that feel a bit soulless?

To reminisce later, I recommend having someone take an overview shot, including the sky and weather, that captures the venue from a distance.

Surprisingly easy to forget ⑥ The bouquet

Photos of the bouquet alone are also a surprisingly overlooked point.

Since the bouquet is an item the bride carries, it is often taken away by wedding attendants without the bride's notice.

When the bride is getting ready and hasn’t yet picked up the bouquet, it would be great to have a straight-on shot taken of the bouquet, and when it is held, having a shot including the hands would be perfect.

The bouquet represents one of the highlights of wedding preparations, meticulously chosen and created through many selections*. Plus, since they are perishable items, you’d want vivid close-up shots to cherish those memories.

Photos of you holding the bouquet, especially during the reception and ceremony, might tend to be more distant shots, but enlarging those could lead to grainy images...

It’s advisable to have photos that focus sharply on the bouquet!♡

Pre-wedding and the wedding day are fleeting! You want to preserve those moments that will never return 100%♡

The more efforts you put into preparations as a bride, the more photos you’re bound to want to keep. If I were the photographer, I might think, "I want to take this kind of photo, and that kind of photo," and schedule everything; however, unfortunately, the wedding day photographer isn’t the bride.

Since brides wear dresses or kimonos that are many times heavier and more voluminous than their everyday clothes, they don’t have the luxury of taking photos themselves, so conveying your wishes clearly is crucial!*

It’s often not feasible for a single photographer to capture all the moments, both physically and time-wise. Even if they strive to do so, there’s a risk of missing precious moments. Hence, asking family or close friends for help and communicating, "I absolutely want this kind of photo!" is recommended.

If you can afford it, hiring two photographers would be desirable for pre-brides♡

Everyone hopes to avoid the situation where, upon reviewing the provided photos later, they find there are "not many usable photos." It would be ideal to capture as many of those precious details in photos as possible!♡
