Discovered an Adorably Cute Baumkuchen ♡ It's "KABUKU~hen"*
Baumkuchen, with its many layered structure, is considered an auspicious item symbolizing the passage of time.
It is a classic wedding gift, but have you ever thought that it looks somewhat ordinary?
The circular shape of baumkuchen also symbolizes continuity, which adds to its auspicious nature...
That aside, I found an incredibly cute, emotionally moving baumkuchen ♡
Here it is: the 'KABUKU~hen (Kabukuhen)' shaped like traditional wooden sandals♡
Perfect for Special Occasions ♡ Detailed Introduction to [KABUKU~hen]*
As the name suggests, KABUKU~hen is a baumkuchen themed around Kabuki*
Though it looks like wooden sandals, this appearance is also related to Kabuki,
designed to resemble the thirteen-layered sandals worn by the courtesan Yatsuhashi from the Kabuki play “Kagotsurube Satono Eizame (かごつるべさとのえいざめ) ”♡
Look at this. Isn't it just too cute...? Although it's baumkuchen, it looks just like real sandals....!!
In the middle of the baumkuchen layers, there's a slightly tart apricot jam sandwiched inside♡
The chocolate straps and emblem designed on top are inspired by the pattern of Yatsuhashi's obi◎
This is a very Japanese sweet that thoroughly pursues the essence of the Kabuki play "Kagotsurube Satono Eizame"♡
Where can you buy KABUKU~hen? How much does it cost?
KABUKU~hen is available at two locations.
You can find it either at the "Hinoki" tea room inside the Kabukiza in Higashi-Ginza, or at "Shochiku Kabukiya Honpo" located in Tokyo Station's Tokyo Station Ichibangai.
The tea room "Hinoki" is mainly accessible only to theatergoers. (There are specific hours when non-ticket holders can enter.)
The KABUKU~hen available at the tea room is for eat-in only, costing 600 yen for one sandal (one piece).
At "Shochiku Kabukiya Honpo," you can purchase it as a souvenir in a box, with a set of two sandals for 1,080 yen.
Cute, Fresh, and Rare Traditional Sweets ♡
KABUKU~hen is available in only two locations nationwide. It's not only super cute but also rare and special, doesn't it make you excited just to see it?
The price, around 1,000 yen for two pieces, makes it perfect for a little gift* Since it's available at Tokyo Station, it’s also great as a souvenir when returning to visit family who love Japanese culture, and it fits perfectly as a wedding gift with a Japanese theme♡
