I discovered super cute sweets!

There are incredibly wonderful and too cute wagashi (Japanese sweets)*

Here they are.

The sweets called "Norikoboshi" sold at an establishment named Manmandou Michinori♡

It has a beautiful appearance resembling a camellia in auspicious white and red colors, and the decorative box features a painting of camellias, making it fashionable and lovely.

The shop is located in Mochiidono Center Street in Nara Prefecture and has been making traditional wagashi since the late Edo period*

The outer red and white petals are made of nerikiri

and the inside contains yolk bean paste♡

"Norikoboshi" symbolizes the Omizutori (water drawing) at Todai-ji♡

The name Norikoboshi comes from the camellias at Todai-ji that bloom in a red and white speckled pattern as if glue has been spilled on the scarlet camellia petals.

Todai-ji is famous for its deer and the Great Buddha of Nara, but from March 1st to 14th every year, the traditional event called "Shunie," or commonly known as Omizutori, takes place, heralding the arrival of spring.

Omizutori is a traditional event that has been held every year without fail for over 1200 years, where people confess their daily mistakes before the Bodhisattva and pray for happiness and peace in the world.

During the Omizutori period, it is customary to decorate the hall with artificial camellias, and wagashi mimicking the red and white petals of camellias called "Norikoboshi" are sold at sweet shops in Nara*

Since the designs and flavors vary by shop, it makes you want to compare them♡

Many residents of Nara look forward to this time of year.

The auspicious red and white colors make me want to serve them at weddings....!

Norikoboshi, which is very cute and auspicious, originates from events wishing for health and peace and happiness.

I would like to use it as wedding favors, but the shelf life is very short, only until the day after purchase.

Moreover, since it cannot be purchased online, one must go to the store in Nara, making it quite challenging. However, if I lived nearby, it would be great as a gift for announcing a marriage.

The cute Norikoboshi from Manmandou Michinori is sold from February to mid-March, priced at 400 yen each. You can choose from packs of 3, 6, or 9, each with different prices*
