What is it really like to order a wedding movie?

A common dilemma for brides-to-be during wedding preparations is whether to "make the movie themselves or not."

Unlike DIY decorations and accessories, editing a well-made video to be screened at the reception seems quite challenging...

However, after seeing posts on social media from fellow brides saying, "I made it myself!", I started to wonder if making it by hand could actually be doable? Or is it a waste if I order one?

Since I have never ordered a movie in my life, I don't really know how much more difficult it would be to prepare compared to making it myself.

I ordered one, so here’s my report!

So! This time, I want to share my impressions from when keiko from the marry editorial team ordered a movie for her own wedding ♡

I originally did design and video editing as a hobby, often taking on paper items and performance movies for friends' weddings.

Therefore, I was planning to make most of my wedding items by myself, but after considering various things, I decided to outsource the wedding movie.

And I believe that the decision to order instead of making it myself was absolutely correct!

Why I didn’t make the movie myself.

I had made wedding movies several times before, including profile movies, opening movies, and performances for friends.

Therefore, I was somewhat accustomed to video editing, but my honest opinion is, "No matter how many times I make it, it’s really hard..."

☑ Considering the structure and content

☑ Collecting materials (unlike illustrations, there aren't many free video materials available...!)

☑ Editing work

☑ Exporting to DVD

☑ Test screening at the venue

Handling this process alone takes a considerable amount of energy. Moreover, this time it was for my own wedding, which meant I had many other things to do!!

I think it would be even more difficult for a bride who is using video editing software for the first time.

At first, I was determined to give my best effort in making the video,

but as I progressed with the wedding preparations, there were days when I had to cut back on sleep, and weekends were taken up with meetings and dress fittings, making it hard to find time to work on it.

About three months before the event, I began to think, "Isn't this going to be a problem?"

So I reconsidered how I could prepare a wedding that I would be satisfied with in the limited time available, and in the end...

I concluded that preparing the "wedding movie" was the item with the least cost-effectiveness (not worth the time and effort).

For instance, photo props that can simply be placed on the podium can be easily made in under an hour and enjoyed by guests throughout the reception.

However, creating a movie from scratch could take several hours to tens of hours, yet it would only play for about 5 minutes at the reception.

I thought about how it would be a waste to consume precious wedding preparation time for just that 5 minutes...

Additionally, even though I had made videos before, they were at a hobby level. I understood that outsourcing would result in a 100% higher quality, and I thought, "I should spend my time preparing other items!"

Thanks to not having to struggle with the movie, I didn’t have to pull all-nighters during the bride-to-be period and was able to DIY various wedding items ♡

I ordered the Minimal from "Wedding Movie Chou-Chou"*

There are various types of wedding movies, but...

what I found appealing was the opening movie “Minimal” from "Wedding Movie Chou-Chou"*

The "Minimal" is a very stylish movie with a cute web-like appearance.

What I particularly liked was that it allows for a simple introduction despite being an opening movie ♡

Opening movies often convey a message to guests about the start of the ceremony through short videos.

"Minimal" goes beyond that by introducing "who we are now," which is different from the profile movie that usually includes a background introduction! It's very natural and stylish!

The traditional countdown adds excitement too! Upon seeing the sample, I thought, "There's no way I could do this myself..." and made the decision to order without hesitation.

The price was 39,800 yen (excluding tax)*

I think it's perfect for brides who want to keep costs down while outsourcing movie creation or subtly showcase overseas ceremony or pre-wedding photos◎

This was the reason I decided to place the order, but the only thing I was concerned about was "the process of getting the movie done."

One of the reasons I decided to order was because I wanted to show a stylish movie without a handmade feel, but how much easier it would be compared to making it myself was also extremely important!

I think there are many brides to be who feel the same way, so I’d like to share the flow of ordering "Minimal"♡

The process of getting the opening movie "Minimal" done ① Receiving the production kit

After applying on the "Wedding Movie Chou-Chou" website, I received the 'production kit' in about a week.

Here’s what was included inside.

☑ "Minimal" production sheet

☑ Movie production book

☑ Screening test DVD

☑ USB

☑ Paper photo album, label stickers, etc.

The photos will be saved on the USB, and the printed photos can be labeled and placed in the album, which is then simply sent back.

With the screening test disk, you can verify beforehand whether the movie will play nicely on the venue's screen!*

Last time I made a movie, I had a problem where it displayed correctly on my TV but letters were cut off on the venue screen, so this is a relief♡

The instructions for the computer operations were very clearly explained in the movie production book!

Brides who are not good with computer operations should be able to prepare without issues with this guide♡

The process of getting the opening movie "Minimal" done ② Filming

One of the stylish points of "Minimal" is this screen of the bride and groom!*

With a white wall as a background, we took three sets of photos and sent the data.

I was a little nervous shooting thinking, will our non-model photos actually look stylish…?

Even with a white background, a few shadows or dirt on the wall are okay!

We took turns capturing each other while encouraging each other with remarks like, "Smile more! Now try linking arms!"♩

There are three cuts each, so it took about 10 minutes to complete the shoot!*

After shooting, we selected the photos we wanted to use for the movie!*

We picked 4 photos each of the bride and groom and 6 photos of the two together, totaling 14 photos.

Compared to profile movies, the fewer number of photos made the preparation a lot easier ♩

Finally, we input the profiles and messages to be included in the movie into an Excel sheet.

The items requesting age, occupation, hobbies, and the day the couple met were easy to answer, so we filled them in smoothly ♡

After moving the photo data to the USB, putting it all in the box that the production kit came in and returning it, we were done!*

This took about an hour. It was much faster than I had imagined, and I was able to enjoyably prepare for the wedding ♩

The process of getting the opening movie "Minimal" done ⑤ Viewing the check version movie and delivery

About a month after returning the production kit, we could view the check version movie!*

In our case, since there were no revisions, the DVD arrived at our home about a week later♡

We received emails at each production step, so we could wait for the final product with ease ♩

Besides preparing the production kit, everything else was done via email, which was also convenient. It allows for flexibility in time and location, making it great for working brides too!*

Here’s the completed opening movie♡

Here is the movie we received* Even with our photos, they look stylish, which is a huge relief! I particularly love the cute white background part and the final "START!" part ♡

We were absolutely satisfied with the quality that could never be achieved by doing it ourselves◎

Ordering the wedding movie was the right decision♡

Thanks to outsourcing the movie, I never had to work with a stressful schedule and was able to sleep well, arriving at the day in perfect condition! ♡

Guests even said, "It was a cute wedding from start to finish"◎ With such little effort, we were able to create such a cute movie, and I’m really glad we decided to order it!*

Profile movie is also recommended♡

For brides who want to showcase more photos or coordinate the wedding movie with other items, I think ordering the profile movie version of the same "Minimal" is a great idea!◎

By ordering from the same "Wedding Movie Chou-Chou," the styles will match, and there’ll be more discounts available too!*

If you like the cut-out photo designs, I also recommend the profile movie "Hallo!" which uses photos of the present you and background photos.

There are also various cute and stylish profile movies, so if you’re interested, check the website!

I hope this helps brides-to-be who are wondering about wedding movies ♡

Please distinguish between what to DIY and what to outsource, and create a wedding you're satisfied with!♩
