Before Sending to Guests: Proper Etiquette for Arranging and Putting Invitation Sets in Envelopes
2017.07.13 published
Invitation Preparation, Complete! Now it’s Time to Send Them Out*
Invitations should be sent to guests 2-3 months before the wedding* Inside the envelope,
① Invitation card ② Venue map ③ RSVP postcard ④ Sticky note (request letter)
and other very important paper items will be included.
Some brides have purchased designs they liked from the wedding venue or online,
while others have worked hard to DIY everything from scratch using free resources!
In any case, thank you for your hard work preparing the invitations♡
Now all we can do is pray for them to be sent out and arrive safely at our guests' homes♩
But wait a moment* Is that the correct way to insert them?
Before sending out the invitations, there’s just one thing to check!
Is the order of the paper items in the envelope really okay?*
There is a correct order to insert the invitations♡
Many brides may already know this, but there is indeed a proper order to how to insert and layer the invitations!
For example, if when the guest opens the envelope they find:
☑ The orientation and layering of the invitations are all mixed up...
☑ A small sticky note inadvertently falls out without anyone noticing...
That would be a big problem, and it’s a bad etiquette too*
So, let’s take great care to seal the whole set of invitations in the envelope correctly!
The correct way to insert and layer them in the envelope is as follows♩
The correct layering order is to place the items in the order that the guest will see them*
This is the most standard and guest-friendly way to do it.
The items should be placed in the envelope facing the same way:
Invitation card ➡ Venue map ➡ RSVP postcard *
Small items like sticky notes and message cards should be tucked inside the main invitation card so that guests don’t overlook them♩
In fact, there are two other patterns*
While layering from the items that guests will read is the most recommended, there are two other proper ways to insert them.
① Layer by size
② Insert everything inside the main invitation card
If you’re unsure, don't hesitate to consult with the venue planner or staff member*
Send the invitations to your guests using the correct layering order♡
How was that? We introduced the correct way to insert and layer invitations in the envelope*
Of course, as long as all the necessary paper items are included in the envelope, there’s no problem,
but given that there is a correct way to do it, we want to make sure we follow that etiquette during the process!
Use this as a reference when creating your invitations♩
