Do You Know About the Yuurai Service?
A question for brides who are about to send invitations to their guests!*
Have you heard about the 'Yuurai' service offered at post offices nationwide?
It's a service from Japan Post that you won't regret knowing about. Let's take this opportunity to learn more!*
So, when sending mail...
Typically, when sending letters or postcards, you have two options: drop them in a post box or take them to a nearby post office.
In that case, a "postmark" with the name of the post office that handled the mail and the date will be stamped on it before it gets sent out.*
A standard postmark looks something like this.
If the post office handles scenic postmarks, which feature designs related to local tourist spots, history, or seasons,
you can get a beautifully designed scenic postmark stamped on your mail.
Many brides choose to stamp their wedding invitations with scenic postmarks from their local area or places meaningful to them and their partner.*
But there's one dilemma.
While it would be wonderful to have such beautiful scenic postmarks on your invitations, you might be facing a dilemma.
There are specific scenic postmarks you'd like to have, but the post office that handles those postmarks is far away and you don't have time to go there!
Should you just give up on getting the scenic postmarks...?
No, that's not necessary! What comes in handy here is the 'Yuurai' service that we're introducing!♡
What is Yuurai?*
Yuurai is a service where you can send two things—your mail and a request form—to a post office that handles your desired scenic postmark,
and they will stamp the scenic postmark for you and send it out.*
So, even while being in Tokyo,
you can get popular scenic postmarks from places like Koiyamagata Station in Tottori Prefecture, which features a heart-shaped design,
or the cute Kumamon scenic postmark from Kumamoto Prefectural Office,
or the vibrant scenic postmark featuring Kinkaku-ji in Kyoto Prefecture, and you can get any scenic postmark from anywhere in the country!♡
Isn't this Yuurai service amazing?
It seems to be frequently used by people who collect postmarks as a hobby too!*
How do I send it?
When requesting the Yuurai service, you need to prepare the following two items!
① Your mail (make sure to write the recipient's address and name on the front and attach a stamp if it's not a postcard)
② A request document for the postmark (any ordinary paper is fine, just include the following details)
- Name of the post office and the content of the request
- Date and time for the postmark
- Type of postmark to be used
- Position of the postmark
- Instructions on whether to send the stamped mail directly or return it to you first
- Your contact information just in case
Then, just place everything in an envelope and mail it to the post office!*
*If you want them to send it directly, that's fine.
If you want them to return it to you first, don't forget to include a return envelope!*
Here are some scenic postmarks I'd like to request♡

✓ Kumamon from Kumamoto Prefectural Office
✓ The bride's curtain design from Nanao Matsumoto
✓ Koiyamagata Station in Tottori
✓ Maiko from Gion in Kyoto
