While natural and handmade weddings are trending on Instagram... in reality, very few brides regularly share information about their weddings on Instagram.
In Japan, over 300,000 couples get married every year, but among them, there are probably only 1 to 3 brides out of 10 who regularly share on Instagram.
The weddings we see on Instagram are just a tiny part of all weddings.
The ones who know the current wedding trends best are the planners working on the front lines at the venues! ♩
This time, I asked an active planner about "recent wedding trends."
The first thing they mentioned was that "the number of handmade items being brought in has decreased."
Specifically, it seems that "decorative items" like welcome spaces and guest tables are on the decline.
In recent years, the consciousness of "Weddings = putting a lot of effort into handmade items" has increased, and some brides made almost all items by hand, but nowadays, brides seem to be bringing in fewer items, especially handmade ones, in order to make the most of the venue's luxurious décor.
Indeed, wedding venues can be beautiful and luxurious even without adding anything.
Previously, there was a strong tendency of "I have to make this and that!" regarding handmade items, but now, more brides are opting to limit the handmade items and choose only high-quality favorites. ♩
Current Bride Trends ② Coordinated by Style
Next, it's noted that recent brides are more conscious of "the style and theme of the wedding" compared to before.
In the past, there were many requests for mixing different tastes, saying, "This is cute! That is cute!" but now, it seems that more brides have a clear theme or style.
Instead of deciding everything themselves, an increasing number of brides are outsourcing to professional coordinators at wedding venues to have them stylishly arrange everything!
It surely seems easier to simply request a "cute pink atmosphere" or "a natural environment with plenty of greenery" rather than having to decide every detail yourself. This way, it could be put together in a nicer way! ◎
From a planner's perspective, they mentioned it’s also easier to propose the best options if they have some level of trust and freedom. ♩
Current Bride Trends ③ Minimal Performances and Speeches
Finally, it’s mentioned that performances, speeches, and other entertainment are kept to a minimum!
Overall, it's common to see combinations of 1 to 3 items (like one production and one entertainment, or one production and two speeches).
Especially, friend speeches and performances have decreased, as there is a strong desire to "want to hold the wedding without putting a burden on friends as much as possible!"
A wedding can be wonderful even without any performances or speeches. If you feel like "I really don't want to do this, but should I?" then it might be good to have a wedding focused more on relaxed conversation. ◎
Current Bride Trends and Styles
This is what the trends and tendencies of current brides look like!
I introduced the trends and tendencies of modern brides.
There has been an ongoing DIY boom in recent years, but now, it seems that more brides are focusing on high-quality and carefully selected items, coordinating the wedding as a whole.
Speeches and entertainment are also kept minimal to avoid burdening friends, with more being participation-based activities for all guests. ◎
While browsing Instagram, I see many wonderful brides-to-be and understand the pressure to "make everything handmade like a pro!" but in reality, many brides are opting for fewer handmade items. ♩
Without being bound to various things, let’s gather only what we think is the best and create the most wonderful wedding in the world! ♡
