【Honeymoon Experience Report】9 Nights and 11 Days in Santorini, Athens, and Dubai

This year, I went on my honeymoon to Santorini, Greece, Athens, and Dubai♡
Recently, more people have been going on honeymoons to Santorini and Dubai, but there is still less information compared to popular destinations like Hawaii, Italy, France, and the USA.
Therefore, this time, I will report on my honeymoon for brides who want to go to Santorini, Greece, Athens, and Dubai♩
It was such a wonderful place that I hope it becomes one of the candidates for brides who are struggling with their honeymoon plans＊

《Honeymoon Day 1》 Narita ➡ Dubai
On the first day, we took a flight from Narita to Dubai♩ The journey took 11 hours and 15 minutes with Emirates Airlines.
Since our flight (EK319) departed Narita at 10 PM, my husband and I went to work in the morning and took the afternoon off to regroup at home before driving to Narita Airport＊
The nearby parking at Narita Airport costs around 5,000 yen for 11 days. Since we had a lot of luggage, we chose to drive instead of taking the train♩
Although we were in economy class, the legroom on Emirates was surprisingly spacious and more comfortable than expected＊
There were many movies available in Japanese, so I watched Moana and took naps, and it passed by in no time◎
《Honeymoon Day 2》 Arrival in Dubai ➡ Athens ➡ Santorini!
On the second day, after a long 11-hour journey, we arrived at Dubai Airport. We had two layovers to reach Santorini. With six hours until our next flight, we looked at souvenirs and had a meal at the airport＊
We also traveled from Dubai to Athens with Emirates Airlines (EK209), which took 5 hours and 40 minutes.
Upon arriving in Athens, we met with a Japanese-speaking staff member arranged by our travel agency, learned about important details for Santorini and Athens, and received guidance for our next flight＊
The flight from Athens to Santorini (A3-7358) took approximately 45 minutes. After 11 hours and 15 minutes plus 5 hours and 40 minutes of travel, 45 minutes felt like no time at all＊
After about 27 hours of leaving Japan, we finally arrived in Santorini! We landed at 6 PM local time.
We had arranged for a transfer vehicle, so we went directly from the airport to our hotel♩
We stayed at "Perivolas" in the Oia area. Since we wanted a room with a pool, we splurged on a "Deluxe Suite" for two nights＊

It took about 1 hour to get from the airport to our hotel in the Oia area. Once we arrived at the hotel, we dropped off our luggage and lightly explored Oia before ending Day 1.
We were tired from the long flight, so we did not go to a restaurant but bought some ham and other snacks from a convenience store to enjoy while taking in the night view from our balcony＊
《Honeymoon Day 3》 Wedding Photo Shoot♡
On the third day, we had a wedding photo shoot＊
We hired a couple of photographers, Aaron & Tamim Delaney, who are British and live in Athens♡ We made a reservation by contacting them through their website in advance＊

I requested a thorough photo shoot for a full 6 hours and traveled around the famous spots in the Oia area◎
I took two wedding dresses with me, so we could change outfits along the way, and they took us to places that were otherwise unreachable without a car♩
It was a memorable experience to have our wedding photos taken while sightseeing＊

After the wedding photo shoot, we explored the streets of Oia in the evening and dined at a restaurant♩
《Honeymoon Day 4》 Exploring the Fira area＊
On the fourth day, we had to switch hotels, so we relaxed at our first hotel in the morning＊ We had arranged for our luggage to be transferred, so we checked out around noon and had our bags taken to the next hotel◎
Our next hotel is called Katikies. I had booked a Senior Suite, but out of the hotel’s kindness, we were upgraded to a Superior Suite♡

After leaving our luggage at the hotel, we headed to Fira for sightseeing. It takes about 40 minutes by bus from Oia to Fira♩
Fira is famous for its cable cars and donkey taxis from the port, which I wanted to try, but it was so hot that we decided against it. Instead, we strolled through the streets of Fira＊
In the evening, we returned to Oia, checked into Katikies, and took a walk to enjoy the sunset at the edge of Oia, dining at a restaurant with a view of the sunset♩
《Honeymoon Day 5》 Relaxing at the hotel＊
On the fifth morning, we relaxed at the hotel. We played in the pool and had meals by the poolside＊
In the afternoon, we strolled through the streets of Oia. Since it was the last day to relax on Santorini, we took our time enjoying it♩
At night, we visited a nearby restaurant and fully enjoyed our time in Santorini until the very end◎
《Honeymoon Day 6》 Moving to Athens & Sightseeing in Athens
On the sixth day, we had to catch a flight at noon, so we arranged for a taxi from the hotel in the morning to take us to the airport. We headed to Athens with Aegean Airlines (A3-7355).
Although we planned to take the train to our hotel upon arrival, we encountered a hiccup due to a strike, and the trains were not running. We took a taxi to the hotel instead.
Once we arrived at the hotel, we dropped off our luggage and set out for sightseeing in Athens. We visited the Acropolis, the Parthenon, and the Olympic stadium♩
The hotel we stayed at was the Philippos Hotel. While I prioritized hotels in Santorini, I didn't have a particular preference in Athens, so I let the travel agency recommend a hotel for me＊

《Honeymoon Day 7》 Sightseeing in Athens ➡ Dubai
On the seventh day, we continued sightseeing in Athens. Since we saw all the ruins the day before, we explored the city for souvenirs and meals♩
The focus was more on dining than sightseeing, so we searched for well-rated restaurants and tried various dishes＊
We departed for Dubai on Emirates Airlines (EK104) at 11:20 PM.
《Honeymoon Day 8》 Arrival in Dubai ➡ Desert Hotel
We traveled about 5 hours from Athens to Dubai, arriving at 5 AM. We had arranged a car, so we headed directly to the desert hotel, "Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa," from the airport＊

After checking in and dropping off our luggage, we played in the hotel pool and booked a "Desert Safari," which involves driving through the desert with a vehicle＊
Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa is right in the middle of the desert, so everything is self-contained within the hotel. We had all our meals at the hotel’s restaurants＊
In the evening, we went on the Desert Safari. It was an exhilarating thrill ride through the contrasting dunes of the desert! The natural wonders of the real desert and oases amazed me, so I highly recommend this experience if you visit Dubai♩
Afterward, we enjoyed the hotel's complimentary activities like riding camels and having falcons perch on our arms＊
《Honeymoon Day 9》 Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
On the ninth day, we took it easy at the hotel. After checking out, we took a taxi to the next hotel, the "Riviera Hotel" in Dubai city＊

After dropping off our luggage at the Riviera Hotel, we took a bus to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi!
It took about two hours by bus from Dubai to Abu Dhabi. We transferred buses to arrive at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque＊
While it was a challenge to travel for two hours with transfers, the beautiful mosque is definitely worth visiting if you are traveling to Dubai♡
《Honeymoon Day 10》 City Tour of Dubai
On our last day in Dubai, we spent the entire day sightseeing＊
Here are the places we visited:

☑ Al Bastakiya District (A city of Aladdin and art!)
☑ Dubai Mall (Home to the largest aquarium in the world)
☑ Dubai Fountain (The world's best fountain show)
☑ Dubai Miracle Garden (A Guinness Record botanical garden)
☑ Ibn Battuta Mall (Home to the world's most beautiful Starbucks)
We explored many attractions in Dubai using the Dubai Metro, taxis, and Abra, a traditional boat♩
I packed in everything I wanted to see, but if you plan to see all these places, it can become quite a tight schedule. Dubai has many attractions, so brides with a flexible schedule might want to consider sightseeing in Dubai for about two days＊
《Honeymoon Day 11》 Dubai ➡ Japan
On the final day, we had to catch a flight at 2:40 AM, so after enjoying Dubai on the 10th, we returned to our room at the Riviera Hotel for a bit, took a shower, and then went to the airport by the arranged transfer vehicle in the middle of the night.
After a long journey of 11 hours with Emirates Airlines (EK318), we returned to Japan around 5:30 PM＊
On our way there, we had two large suitcases and a dress bag, but on the return trip, we had two suitcases, a dress bag, two large Boston bags, and a lot of souvenir bags…! I really recommend that brides who have a car drive to the airport instead of taking the train.
By the way, after returning to Japan, I went directly to a laundromat to wash 11 days' worth of laundry.
Since there was so much laundry, it's better to go to a laundromat rather than use a home washing machine＊
